AAHH! Fest By Common
September 24-25, 2016
The AAHH! Fest by Common made its return to Chicago September 24th & 25th, 2016 in Union Park. The first festival made its debut in 2014 as a one day community and music festival. The spirit behind the festival is to give Chicago an event that would allow the city to breathe and enjoy with all of the violence surrounding the city.
This year's festival expanded to two days which included a community showcase co-sponsored by Donda's House on the first day and a music celebration on the second day. The community showcase featured a number of local artist that were selected after auditioning for a spot on the Main Stage. There was also a surprise performance by Chance the Rapper and performances by Vic Mensa, Taylor Bennett, Omen, and Tink. The community day also included a College Career Zone and a Health and Wellness Zone.
AAHH Fest Day two music celebration featured the Main Event with performances by Sir The Baptist, The Internet, Jeremih, Vic Mensa, The Roots, Common, Ice Cube, Bilal, and J. Cole including a surprise performance by R. Kelly. The music celebration was hosted by Chicago's own Comedian's Deon Cole and Damon Williams.
The peaceful event allowed the community to enjoy a great event which also included a VIP experience. Proceeds from the festival provide programs at the Common Ground Foundation, which inner city youth get exposure to the arts and Donda's House, which provide access to arts instruction to youth. The festival was sponsored by Allstate, BMOA, Google, Aramark, the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities.
