Visit traditional neighborhoods to understand the city from a geographic, cultural, social, and economic point of view, including the picturesque/working class neighborhood called “GETSEMANI” (where we will appreciate its interesting history and culture depicted through murals, graffiti and of course its people).
On the way to the Mud Volcano, we’ll SEE Afro-Colombian villages that we will visit on the way back from the tour, among them the Afro Colombian village called “LOMITA ARENA” and the Afro-Colombian village called “TIERRA BAJA” where we will learn about the people, their way of living, the fishing in the small freshwater lake where they do craft fishing and where they take water for domestic use.
We also learn how the town is in the middle of the lake and the ocean but still struggles to survive. Then, we head to the Mud Volcano, take a bath in the natural volcano which is around 40 minutes away from the city. This volcano has medicinal components that work on your body making your skin soft as a baby’s. This volcano is called “the fountain of youth”. On the way back, we stop at the Afro Colombian village called “Tierra Baja”, where we learn about Afro Colombian art, how cultural expressions and cosmovision of the Black Colombians is depicted in art and handmade crafts. At the moment of lunch, we stop at another Afro Colombian village called “La Boquilla” where we have the most delicious fried fish.
